Consultation on the proposal to increase the published admission number of Cowley Hill Primary School from 45 to 60

This consultation is now closed. There is a proposal to change the maximum number of places available in the reception year group at Cowley Hill Primary School. This will mean:

• Increasing the Published Admission Number (PAN) from 45 to 60

When would this happen? The increase would be for the reception year group from September 2009 onwards.

Why is it proposed to increase the PAN? There has been an increase in pupil numbers in the area.

How will the additional pupils be accommodated? The school’s accommodation will be increased to provide for the additional pupils.

How will the decision be taken? Once the consultation period ends, a report will be made to the Education Panel which meets in April. This panel is made up of key elected members from the three main political parties and they will decide how to proceed following feedback from the consultation. The Panel will make a recommendation to Cabinet, which is the County Council’s decision-making body. If Cabinet decides to proceed with the proposal, the County Council will publish a statutory notice of its intention. Anybody is entitled to comment or object during the six week statutory notice period. If there are any objections to a statutory notice, the decision as to whether or not to proceed with the proposal would be made by Cabinet in the light of the objections received. If there are no objections, the Director of CSF would be able to proceed with the proposal.

The table below outlines the timetable for the decision making process. Please note that meetings marked with * will be open to the public.
