FOOTNOTES
1. The proposal to “amalgamate” Alban Wood Junior School, and Alban Wood Infant and Nursery School, was the subject of a consultation in the area that ended on 19 December 2003. This followed a review of school places provision in the Leavesden/Woodside wards of North East Watford and the usage of the schools’ accommodation. The proposed “amalgamation” is based on these findings.
2. The Cabinet of the County Council approved, on 26 January 2004, the “amalgamation” outlined above in response to the outcome of the consultation.
3. The School Standards & Framework Act 1998 requires that all county and voluntary schools must be prepared to admit pupils up to their standard number or to any higher limit which may have been fixed for their school. Admissions authorities may not set admissions limits lower than the relevant standard number.
4. A copy of the proposed school’s capacity calculations is available from the Children, Schools and Families Planning Unit, County Hall, Hertford, telephone 01992 555875.
