Statutory Notice: Proposed closure of Ley Park Primary School & expansion of Sheredes Primary School & Wormley Primary School
The public consultation on the expansion of Sheredes Primary School and Wormley C of E Primary School, and the closure of Ley Park Primary School, ended on 27 July 2006.
The results of the consultation were considered by the County Council’s Education Panel at its meeting on 12 September 2006. The Panel made recommendations to Cabinet for their meeting on 16 October 2006.
The Cabinet met on 16 October 2006 and agreed the following proposals:
- That statutory notices be published to:
- Expand Sheredes Primary School, by 15 places in reception from 1 September 2007, and by 15 places in all other year groups (year 1 to year 6) from 1 September 2008, creating a 2FE school with 420 places plus 60 part-time nursery places.
- Close Ley Park Primary School from 31 August 2008.
- Expand Wormley C of E Primary School by 12 places per year group, resulting in a 2 FE school with capacity for 420 pupils plus 60 part-time nursery places, from 1 September 2008 on the current Ley Park School site.
- In the event of there being no statutory objections to the proposals, the Director of Children, Schools and Families be authorised to confirm them.
- That Cabinet is minded to publish statutory notices for the closure of Ryelands Primary School but defers formal decision pending receipt of the outcome of the recent OfSTED inspection.
- That Cabinet authorizes the Director of Children, Schools and Families to reduce Forres Primary School from 1.5FE to 1FE in accordance with the report.
