Proposals for Sheredes, Ley Park & Wormley Primary Schools
Following Cabinet on the 16 October 2006 statutory notices were published. Two objections were received and so, on the 11 December 2006, the proposals were refered to the School Organisation Committee who agreed the following:
- Expand Sheredes Primary School, by 15 places in reception from 1 September 2007, and by 15 places in all other year groups (year 1 to year 6) from 1 September 2008, creating a 2FE school with 420 places plus 60 part-time nursery places.
- Close Ley Park Primary School from 31 August 2008.
- Expand Wormley C of E Primary School, by 12 places in reception from 1 September 2007, and by 12 places in all other year groups (year 1 to year 6) from 1 September 2008, creating a 2FE school with 420 places plus 60 part-time nursery places.
Closure of Ryelands Primary School on 31 August 2007
As a result of an Ofsted inspection at Ryelands Primary School the school was placed in the Ofsted category of "Special Measures". Hertfordshire County Council then consulted on a proposal to bring forward the closure of the school to 31 August 2007. This consultation ended on 7 December 2006. On 18 December 2006 Cabinet agreed to publish a statutory notice to this effect.
There were no objections to the statutory proposal to close Ryelands Primary School on 31 August 2007. As no objections were received, the decision was determined under the delegated powers of the Director of Children, Schools and Families on 6 February 2007.
The Primary Support Base currently at Ryelands will be relocated to Westfield Community Primary School from September 2007.
