SaverCard - what is it?

The Hertfordshire SaverCard is a special travel card that entitles you to
half price tickets on all local buses in Hertfordshire.
To get a card you need to meet the following requirements:
- Aged between 11 and 18 years of age.
- In full-time education.
- A resident of Hertfordshire (if aged 16 or older).
There are now two types of Hertfordshire SaverCard - the 11 to 15 year old Hertfordshire SaverCard and the 16 to 18 year old Hertfordshire SaverCard. You can download and print an application form for the Hertfordshire SaverCard at the bottom of this page.
Students aged under 16 in full time education
11 to 15 year old Hertfordshire SaverCards are valid from the date they are issued and expire the day before your 16th birthday. There is a
£10 administrative charge for a first application and a further £10 charge for each replacement required.
However, if your family is on low income you may qualify for one free of charge. Applications for a free SaverCard must be made on a “How Can We Help?” form. Please follow the "How can we help?" link on the right to complete this form online. Students aged 16-18 in full time education
16 to 18 year old Hertfordshire SaverCards are issued for one academic year. They expire at the end of the academic year on the 30th September. They can be renewed each year as long as the applicant is still eligible.

Please do not wait until you are 16 to make your application for a 16 to 18 year old Hertfordshire SaverCard. If you are going to reach your 16th birthday during the academic year then you can apply for your 16 to 18 year old Hertfordshire SaverCard anytime during that year.
A Hertfordshire SaverCard entitles the holder to travel for half the adult fare at all times on local bus services within Hertfordshire, and to certain destinations outside the county (see Conditions of Use, below).
If you do not have a valid Hertfordshire SaverCard with you at the time of travel you will be charged the full adult fare!

If you are using Transport for London (TfL) services when entering Hertfordshire you can receive free travel (on these services) if you are under 16 and have an Oyster photocard (from 1 June 2008). However, when you change onto a Hertfordshire service (or non TfL service) you will have to pay. Visit www.transportforlondon.gov.uk for further details about the Oyster card and TfL services.
