What is Dial a Ride?


Dial a Ride is a door to door transport service for the elderly and people of any age,including children, who have difficulty travelling due to permanent disability or illness. Children up to the age of 14 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

How do I qualify for Membership?


As a general rule if you are in receipt of mobility allowance, have a permanent disability that restricts your mobility or qualify on age you are eligible.

What can I use it for?


These are just a few ideas....shopping, visiting the doctor or or dentist, going to places of interest, visiting friends and family.

Please note that Dial a Ride does NOT provide transport to hospitals, full time education or social services/health service day centres.

When can I use it?


Once you have been accepted as a member you can book your trips up to seven days in advance between the hours of 8:30am and 5pm Monday to Thursday, and Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Journeys are available between 9am and 7pm Monday to Friday. If there is enough demand and a driver and vehicle are available some Saturday services may run.

How much does it cost?


Dial a Ride fares are comparable with public transport. The fares are quoted for a single journey and the booking office should tell you the cost of each journey.

Can I take a someone with me?


Yes you may as Dial a Ride does not provide companions or escorts. Companions will be charged at the same rate as the member.
