What is Herts Travellink?

Herts Travellink has been developed through the Hertfordshire Integrated Transport Partnership (HITP), a unique partnership of some 60 stakeholders including three Hertfordshire County Council departments (Children, Schools and Families; Adult Care Services; and Environment), the ten District Councils, many voluntary sector organisations and the local NHS Trusts, as well as the Strategic Health Authority.

The partnership is working to improve access to information about transport services for users of education, health and social services. It is also trying out new ways of providing transport.

One of the key aims of the partnership is to establish a single point of contact so that users can find out about transport choices, and then choose and book the most suitable transport for their individual needs; the Travellink website is part of that plan.

The partnership has already had several successes…
  • Developing the NHS Travellink Centre to help deal with all enquiries about transport to hospital in the east and north of Hertfordshire.

  • Helping to set up and grow the Health Shuttle, a unique transport service to the Lister Hospital, offering door to door journeys in small vehicles at affordable fares.

  • Working through the HCC Local Transport Plan programme to assess the problems associated with accessing health care facilities in Broxbourne.

  • Training staff at the HCC Customer Service Centre to provide extra information about all types of transport.

  • Working closely with the Strategic Health Authority to ensure that the outcomes of the HITP project compliment all future hospital and health service developments.
