Yellow lines

Enforcement issues are dealt with by the District and Borough Councils.

Yellow lines are road markings that denote a restriction of some sort, for example yellow lines at the edge of a road act as waiting restrictions, yellow marks outside schools indicate a keep clear zone, and yellow box zones indicating no stopping.

When a new yellow line is needed a traffic regulation order has to be created – they are created after consultation and approval. Once yellow lines have been painted they need maintenance, especially re-painting when and if they fade.

There are no red routes in Hertfordshire.
