Managing our roads under the Traffic Management Act 2004

The Traffic Management Act is being phased in over the next few years. It covers

• Jurisdiction and power of Traffic Officers
• Road network management by Local Transport Authorities
• Permit schemes for booking roadspace (road repairs, utilities works etc)
• Co-ordination of street works
• Highways and roads (objects in the highway, skips scaffolding etc.)
• Civil enforcement of traffic contraventions

We will be pooling information on all road works and events with other local authorities, utilities and the emergency services so that we can act to minimise congestion on Hertfordshire's road network.
