Hertfordshire Renewable Energy Study

In February 2003 the Government produced an Energy White Paper that recognised renewable energy as a major contributor to tackling climate change.

In 2004 a study for the East of England Sustainable Development Round Table proposed a target of 14% of electricity coming from renewable technologies within Hertfordshire by 2010.

Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Environmental Forum (HEF) and Hertfordshire Technical Chief Officers Association (HTCOA) engaged Entec Consultants to undertake research to identify the realistic potential for renewable energy development in Hertfordshire and to explore constraints to this development.
