Waste Site Allocations Preferred Options January 2008
This consultation is now closed.
The county council has a statutory responsibility to identify potential sites or areas for waste management facilities. This does not just include waste management sites for household waste, but for business, commercial, industrial, construction, demolition and hazardous waste too.
The sites for possible waste management facilities will be chosen by an assessment of criteria set out in the Waste Core Strategy document.
Whilst there are individual sites that have been included in the full Waste Site Allocations consultation document, we are not proposing specific types of facility at these locations yet or if at all (except for those existing or former landfill sites where we could carry out restorative works).
Whilst the county council considers that the sites included are suitable in principle for waste management facilities, there is no presumption that any of the sites will get planning permission.
The sites identified include land previously included in the Waste Local Plan, existing waste management sites where there may be scope for expansion or co-location, suitable employment land as designated in district/borough local plans and other sites where there are particular location advantages.
The council has also identified a number of existing waste management sites that it considers should be safeguarded against redevelopment.
We have not yet finalised our policies and need to know if you object to any of the preferred sites. The full consultation document includes maps showing each individual site in detail and in the wider county context. The complete consultation document as well as a summary document is attached below.
To respond to this part of the consultation either use the form below or use the online form that will be online from Monday 28 January. We would encourage you to use the online form to reduce waste.
