Waste Site Allocations

Issues and Preferred Options 2 Consultation - November 2009

This consultation is now closed

The county council has a statutory responsibility to identify potential sites or areas for waste management facilities. This does not just include waste management sites for household waste, but sites for business, commercial, industrial, construction, demolition and hazardous waste too.

The Waste Site Allocations document identifies potential sites across the county. The document identifies specific sites and the types of use that they may be suitable for.

Although the county council considers that the sites included are suitable in principle for waste management facilities, there is no presumption that any of the sites will get planning permission.

The sites identified include land previously included in the Waste Local Plan, existing waste management sites where there may be scope for expansion or co-location, suitable employment land as designated in district/borough local plans and other sites where there are particular locational advantages.

The sites have been chosen by assessing a longlist of sites in Hertfordshire against the criteria set out in the Waste Core Strategy and Development Policies document.

The council has also identified a number of existing waste management sites that it considers should be safeguarded against redevelopment and has included a policy for this.

We have not yet finalised our policies and need to know if you object to any of the preferred sites and if so, why.
