Green issues - what Hertfordshire County Council is doing to raise awareness

As well as ensuring the Environment Department carries out its work in an environmentally responsible manner through the Environmental Management System, staff and plans are also targeted.

Staff awareness sessions have been held covering topics such as water, energy saving and sustainable gardening. Also, plans and strategies are being ‘appraised’ from the earliest stage, to ensure that they take account of their impacts on people and the environment. The results of these sustainability appraisals are published alongside the plan, e.g. The Structure Plan and Local Transport Plan.
