Croxley Common Moor
Common Moor is a large open grassland in south west Herts. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Local Nature Reserve on the basis of its lowland heath, which is becoming rare nationally. Common Moor is an unusually large open space given the density of surrounding developments including Rickmansworth, Croxley Green, Watford and Northwood and provides a valuable asset for the local community.
What is there to do?
Common Moor offers pleasant walking across rough grassland alongside the River Gade. The site is often very wet underfoot particularly at the western end. The site provides a point of interest for leisure cyclists exploring along the Ebury Way.
How to get there?
Access to the site is easiest by foot from surrounding towns and business / industrial parks. The nearest station is Croxley station on the Metropolitan line (300m). The Grand Union canal also passes through and provides a stop off for walkers along using the towpath and boaters on the canal.
