Citizens Advice Bureaux Rural Benefit Take Up Project

Description of Project - To increase access to advice and information for people in rural Hertfordshire. The aim is to increase income levels through Benefit take-up campaigns by providing an outreach service in villages and rural communities.

Evidence of Need for this Project Activity - Consultation undertaken by Dacorum and North Herts Citizens Advice Bureau showed clients on low income did not contact bureaux by phone for advice and preferred face to face advice. Work carried out at GP surgeries in rural areas demonstrated high level of access need for clients with long term health problems, low income or poor transport.

Key activities for 2006/07
