Focus on Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service

Philip Linnegar and his team at the Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service, help people affected by hearing loss. With an increasing population in the county who are living longer, the staff and volunteers are kept busy.

“Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service is here to help anyone affected by hearing loss. If you need help with your NHS hearing aid, either practically – like re-tubing, cleaning or new batteries, or are considering buying an aid privately and need some advice, we can help.”

Our weekly resource centre at Woodside Centre hours from 4th March 2006 will be Saturday 9.30 am – 12.00 pm and Thursday 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm. We also have monthly local resource centres, and a mobile unit that operates scheduled services across the county.

Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service is the only voluntary sector provider in the county, and celebrates its 25th Anniversary during 2006/07. “Although we are an independent charity, we work closely with our colleagues in HCC Sensory Services Team, and the NHS Audiology departments in and around the county”, says Philip.

“Many of our staff and volunteers have a hearing loss themselves, and can help in a caring and practical way that clients appreciate" says Philip. “We’re a friendly charity and we would like to hear from anyone with a few hours to spare each month who can help us”.
