Equipment for people who are deaf or hard of hearing

The county council's Sensory Services team employs specialist social workers to work with you if you have severe hearing loss and perhaps use British Sign Language.  The social workers can assess your need for any special equipment and can often provide equipment free of charge on long term loan.

Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service (HHAS) has trained volunteers who can visit you at home and offer support and advice with using your hearing aid.  HHAS also offers information and advice on a wide range of equipment for use at home or work.  It has a permanent display at its base in Welwyn Garden City and a mobile service which visits over thirty venues every month.
