Living independently does not mean living without support, rather it refers to the control you have in organising your own life.
Personal care assistance and domestic services (such as laundry, cleaning and gardening), can be provided or purchased via Adult Care Services, voluntary organisations or privately.
If Adult Care Services has assessed and agreed your needs, you can ask for money from the county council (Direct Payments) so you can purchase your own care services.
The Hertfordshire Personal Assistance Support Service (Hertfordshire PASS) provides advocacy, support, advice and information to anyone with a disability in Hertfordshire who wishes to use Direct Payments to live more independently.
Some health and high street services provide home visits (eg hairdressers, opticians, chemists, chiropodists) and other services provide home delivery (eg shopping and meals at home).
