Living with a disability

Employment services and disability advisers

Disability Service Teams form part of the Employment Service and address the particular needs of disabled job seekers.

They include Disability Employment Advisers who are based in local Job Centres and will work with you individually. They can provide access to assessments, training schemes and financial assistance, together with a plan of action to enable you to find employment.

The Access to Work scheme is designed to provide any extra equipment or support you may need (e.g. a driver, carer, note taker, etc) to enable you to do your job if you have a disability. Application is made by your employer to the Disability Employment Adviser (DEA).
