Voting

Polling stations should be accessible, but if you have a disability you may still have difficulty in voting.

You may wish to register for a vote by post or proxy (i.e. appoint someone else to cast your vote for you). This needs to be requested well in advance of an election date.

If you choose to attend a polling station, you can receive assistance with voting (though there are certain rules about this) or you can opt to use an alternative polling station if access is a problem.

If you have a sight problem, the polling stations should provide you with large print ballot papers or a tactile device to help you cast your vote.

This is an area in which the charity SCOPE is actively campaigning to ensure everyone is able to vote. See the link to the 'Polls Apart' website under 'External Links' on this page.
