Physiotherapists treat injuries or diseases using exercise, massage manipulation and hydrotherapy to improve and assist the natural healing mechanisms of the body. Some physiotherapists work in hospitals, while others are based in the community or sports centres. Many physiotherapists work within the NHS and accept referrals from health professionals. Some work independently or for private agencies.
Chiropractors also use manipulation, often of the spinal column, with a focus on restoring normal nerve function.
Osteopathy focuses on disorders and pain in bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and other soft tissues.
