NVQ 3 Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)

The Award

This award is for those working directly with children and young people.
To study for this award candidates complete four (4) core mandatory Units and four (4) optional Units regarding Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)

Attendance

A number of ½ day introductory sessions will be held dependant on demand at New Barnfield.
Further ½ day support sessions may be arranged as required.

Duration

The qualification is designed to be completed at a pace determined by the experience of the candidate and the opportunity for assessment. Generally candidates should aim to complete the qualification within 18 months.

Assessment

A qualified assessor assesses NVQs in the workplace against specified criteria in the National Occupational Standards.

Start Date Throughout the year, dependent upon demand.

Nomination requirements

Managers can nominate staff who have at least two (2) years experience of working at an appropriate level. Foster Carers and Shared Carers may commence in their first year. (NB For residential staff, NVQ3 must be undertaken within 3 months of joining the service see page 78)
OR
Those who have demonstrated the potential to undertake the award by either previous qualification gained, use of in-house training or organisation skills or writing skills.
