Child Protection Level 1

Audience
This course is for staff who have no social work qualification and who have no prior knolwedge of HCC procedures. They need to work directly with children and contribute to the multi-agency assessments.

Course Objectives

- Explore 'what is abuse'
- Consider signs, symptoms and definitions of abuse
- Be aware of the key priciples of the Children Act 1999 regarding child protection
- Become familiar with the concept 'significant harm'
- Understand duties and responsibilities of self and others
- Consider our responses to children 'telling us' about their abuse
- Be informed about Hertfordshires Child Protection policy and procedures
