Noticeboard acceptable use policy

This policy sets out the acceptable use of the Noticeboard/ Events Diary facility on hertsdirect.org, the Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) website.

Acceptable Use

By placing an item on the noticeboard/events diary you are wholly responsible for the notice for the duration of its time on the website. Additionally you are required to take full responsibility for amending the notice to ensure the accuracy of the information therein (e.g. change of event timings or venues, cancellations).

You should ensure you have obtained permission from those concerned if contact details and photographs are used in the notice that are not yours.

The placing of events on the noticeboard/events diary is conducted entirely at your own risk. HCC cannot accept responsibility for any contract entered into as a result of information posted on the website.

When placing a notice ensure that you provide contact details for the event and make sure that the description of events advertised is a true representation.

Although HCC accepts no responsibility for the content of notices HCC expects that users will ensure that the description of events is a true representation and complies with the ordinary principles of fair dealing. Exchange of money for goods should be done face to face.HCC accepts no responsibility for failiure of goods or money to arrive if any postal services are used. Complaints arising from inaccurate notices will be forwarded to the person listed as the contact for the event.

Not Permitted

HCC will not tolerate notices that contravene current legislation. These or other notices, which, in the opinion of the Council, may breach legislation, will be removed. Notices that may be illegal, offensive, libellous, pornographic, obscene, defamatory, intimidating, intentionally misleading or disruptive to HCC or may bring HCC into disrepute will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to, sexual comments or images, nudity, racial slurs, or anything that would offend someone on the basis of their age, gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, national origin or disability.

HCC reserves the right to remove any postings at any time.
