Will there be a jury at an inquest?

Most inquests are held without a jury and the findings are made solely by the Coroner.

There are certain circumstances where a jury will be summoned. These include:

deaths in prison or in police custody

deaths resulting from industrial accidents

some cases of industrial disease

situations in which it seems possible that further deaths may occur in similar circumstances to the one being considered
