The Hertfordshire Standard

Our targets are:
  1. To offer everyone an appointment within two working days.
  2. To see 90% of customers at or before their appointment time.
  3. To register 100% of births and stillbirths within 42days
  4. To register 100% of deaths within 5 days.
  5. To respond to all emails and other correspondence within one working day
  6. Priority Service Only:To process and send out 100% of certificates in 24 hours of receipt.

Monitoring these standards

Hertfordshire Registration Service aims to provide a quality service to its customers and monitor the standards monthly. The figures shown below are for the whole of the Registration Service from April 1st 2007.
  • 30,868 people visited our offices to register a birth, death, marriage or partnership.
  • 100% of births and stillbirths were registered within 42days
  • 100% of deaths were registered within 5 days
  • 98% of people were offered an appointment within two working days.
  • 98% of the customers were seen before or at their appointed times.
  • 12,861 certificates were requested in total, of these
  • 10,042 priority certificates were requested
  • 99.7% of priority certificates were sent out either by return of post or collected within twenty-four hours.
  • 100% of non-priority certificates were sent out by return of post or collected within one week.
  • 1,485 e-mails requesting information were received of which 99.6% were answered within one working day.

  • 81% of customers said that the service they received was excellent.
  • 13% of customers said that the service received was very good.
  • 3% of customers said that the service received was satisfactory.
  • 3% of customers said the service received was unsatisfactory.

Survey Results from 'Choosing a Venue in Hertfordshire'

Hertfordshire Registration Service carried out a survey over a period of four months. We received 376 completed surveys and the results are as follows :
  • 20% of people said that they chose their venue because of the location.
  • 16% said they chose a venue that they were familiar with.
  • 5% chose their venue because of its size.
  • 2% chose a ceremony in Hertfordshire because of the services reputation.
  • 17% said they chose their venue because of its unique style.
  • 1% said they chose Hertfordshire for their ceremony because of national advertising.
  • 2% said they chose Hertfordshire for their ceremony because of local advertising.
  • 4% said they chose their venue because of the 'Hertfordshire Celebrations' brochure.
  • 16% chose their venue through word of mouth.
  • 3% chose a Hertfordshire venue through the Wedding Fair
  • 1% chose a Hertfordshire venue through the Partnership Fair
  • 9% chose a Hertfordshire venue by using our website
  • 4% gave other reasons for choosing a Hertfordshire venue.
