Young people who decide to join Watford Youth Council (WYC) are coached by youth workers on how to represent the views of other young people in Watford. This is an excellent way to make sure that the voice of young people in Watford is heard!
The Youth Council is actively involved in local decision making and in addressing many aspects of life in Watford that affect young people. These include giving an opinion on town centre developments, tackling issues affecting young people, telling local services what young people want, and planning large scale youth events and festivals to bring people together. The important thing about the Youth Council though is that its members run the project and decide the programme. Oh, and they also have a lot of fun!
