This is a theatre complex situated near the centre of St Albans. It is owned by the non-professional Company of Ten (for details, see separate record on the Database), and comprises a 230-seat auditorium theatre with fly tower and raked seating, a 78-seat flexible studio theatre, rehearsal areas, workshop, wardrobe and foyer with bar.
All the facilities are available for public letting, and are regularly used by visiting professional and amateur companies and other organisations, such as NADFAS.
The theatre is open from September to July, with new shows being presented every four weeks.
There is an organisation of supporters, the Abbey Theatre Club, whose members receive advance notice of productions and discounts on ticket prices.
Disabled facilities: Parking spaces reserved, ramps, wheelchair space in theatre by arrangement. Disabled toilet. Loop system.
Directions: Next to Westminster Lodge swimming pool. Near St Albans Abbey Station (rail link to Watford Junction). Free car parking in the evenings.
Catering: Licensed bar, coffee bar, ice creams.
