Greenwood Park Community Centre (Chiswell Green)

Greenwood Park Community Centre is owned and managed by St Stephen Parish Council. It is surrounded by over 60 acres of green open space including a large area of woodland, a wildflower meadow, the Parish Council's flagship play area and outdoor sports facilities.

The Centre offers a function room, sports hall, small meeting room, kitchen, bar area, as well as ample parking. It is fully accessible and able to cater for a wide variety of functions.

The venue is suitable for conferences and meetings.
A licensed bar is available.

All rooms are available for hire at reasonably priced hourly rates both day and evenings.

The Sports Hall with its sprung wooden floor is suitable for most indoor sports and includes two badminton courts, a netball and a volleyball court, as well as 5-a-side football facilties. Served by the kitchen this hall is also popular for large parties, functions and children's sports parties. It can accomodate 290 people seated, 360 occassional seating and 400 standing.

The function room (Orton Hall) opens out on to the lawns and has panoramic views over pleasant parkland. The room is connected to the bar and kitchen by serving hatches and has direct access to the lounge. It is fitted with disco lights and soft lighting making it suitable for parties and small wedding receptions. As it is light and airy it is also a popular venue for clubs and fitness classes. Orton Hall can accomodate 90 people seated at tables, 100 with occassional tables or 150 standing.

The Lounge is a private room offering a comfortable environment for smaller meetings, seating approximately 25. It is served by the bar and is fitted with both soft and normal lighting. The Lounge can be hired separately or in conjunction with Orton Hall for large functions.

The kitchen serves both Orton Hall and the Sports Hall and is well equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, double sink, fridge, crockery and cutlery.

Tennis Courts
The Greenwood Park Tennis Club leases part of the pavilion and the tennis courts. There is a court which is available to hire for £5.00 per hour. Bookings can be made at the Day One Convenience Store (known as Ramesh's) on the corner of Tippendell Lane with Watford Road. The children's court, Kid's Zone is also available for £2.00 per hour, when not in use by the Tennis Club.

Accessibility: Disabled toilets and wheelchair access to all areas.

Facilities: Car Park for over 100 cars.

Opening Hours:
Centre available 9.00am-11.30pm seven days a week or later by prior arrangement.

Directions: Tippendell Lane runs between Watford Road and the A405 in Chiswell Green, St Albans. The Centre is within 1.5 miles of the M25 (Junction 21A); M10 and M1 (Junction 6).
