The Newton Price Centre is a not-for-profit local community centre, providing facilities to Central Primary School (Watford) and the local community. The Centre is controlled by a Management Committee. The Centre hires out a Theatre/Drama Studio, a Dance Studio, Exhibition Gallery, Arts & Crafts Room (which also serves as a general meeting room) and ICT Suite. A fully fitted kitchen is available for use by hirers. The Centre is the local polling station on election days (usually the first Thursday in May of each year).
The Newton Price Centre additionally arranges the hiring of Central Primary School’s Main Hall and Dining Hall for evening and weekend activities.
Information technology facilities at the Centre include a 10 work-station computer suite with internet and email facilities, accessed via broadband. A projector is available for tutors to show learners how to follow the tutor on a step-by-step learning programme. A server-linked laser black and white printer is available in the ICT suite. The Centre hires out these facilities to training organisations for computer-related courses. Please contact the Manager for details.
During weekdays, HCC’s Adult Care Services Balmoral Day Service use the Centre’s facilities, though access for other training organisations and youth-related activities can also be arranged. During evenings and weekends, a wide range of arts-related activities – such as dance, yoga, art, theatrical and language studies – take place in the Centre.
The Newton Price Centre is located next to Central Primary School and can be accessed from the Watford central ring road system via Beechen Grove and the Derby Road slip road. Parking for up to 15 vehicles is available on-site during evenings and weekends, though it may be possible to expand parking in Central Primary School’s grounds.
The Centre is within walking distance of the High Street railway station and buses are available outside Watford Market Bus Terminus. The Harlequin Centre parking facilities are located within two minutes walking distance. Watford Junction Station is about 1 mile from the Centre.
