EPTA's aims are to promote excellence in piano teaching and performance; to bring teachers, performers, composers, researchers and publishers together; and to raise standards within the profession.
There is a conference every year. The programme includes master-classes, recitals by distinguished artists and by outstanding young artists, demonstrations and discussions. Speakers come from UK and abroad.
Those interested in playing or teaching the piano, and corporate bodies/ societies with similar interests can join as members of the organisation. Individuals without qualifications in music must be recommended by a member.
There are 31 Regional Organisations in the UK, and EPTA in Hertfordshire organises regular meetings for piano teachers (some meetings are open to non-members), including lecture-recitals, discussions and an annual non-competitive piano festival for members' pupils.
