The FCS is the trade union arm of the Association for Clinical Biochemistry (ACB) and also provides industrial relations services for other clinical scientist professions, specialising in Clinical Microbiology, Cytogenetics, Genetics, Immunology and Haematology.

Clinical Scientists in all areas of the NHS, academia and commerce are actively involved in research and development to improve diagnosis and treatment.
