The Association exists to run and develop the sport of wheelchair rugby in this country. Wheelchair Rugby is a team sport for wheelchair users with upper limb impairment/disability. It is played on a basketball court using a volleyball, players attempt to cross their opponents goal line with the ball. Chair contact is allowed but not body contact.
Wheelchair rugby is the only team game for tetraplegics of all levels, or those with an upper limb impairment. If you can push a wheelchair then you can play. To give all players an opportunity to compete on equal terms, a player classification system is used. Each person is given a class according to arm and hand muscle function. If individuals have some leg or trunk movement then this is also accounted for.
Teams exist throughout the UK for further information please contact the secretary.
