The adult club was founded in 1990,and after seven years a junior club was formed. The group has over 13,000 members, with ages ranging from 4-60 years old.
Adults begin on the Ishin Ryu self defense programme, and juniors are taught in a fun orientated yet disciplined environment building confidence and new skills.
The Ishin Ryu Club has appeared on TV programmes, including "The James Whale Show" and LWT's "You Bet!" also while teaching abroad Soke has been interviewed and appeared on European Television.
The Club has just completed building a purpose built headquarters in Caston, Norfolk with an acommodation block, showers, sauna and steam room, changing rooms, classroom, fitness room and training hall, big enough to train 40 students at a time, with many overseas students visiting throughout the year.
Soke Kevin Pell was inaugurated into the black belt hall of fame in October 2001 and 2003 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Martial Arts by Paul Cliffton the Editor of Comabt Magazine, and appeared on the front cover of Combat Magazine in April 2002 with his life story. Kevin is also a author having just released his third book, Martial Arts Basics - Ju Jitsu.
Classes are as follows (Hawksmoor Centre, Potters Lane, Borehamwood): Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Children (4-7): 6.00pm-7.00pm
Children (8-13): 7.00pm-8.00pm
Adults: 8.00pm-10.00pm
Saturdays:-
4- 7yrs: 9.30am-10.30am
8-13yrs: 10.30am-11.30am
Adults: 9.30am-11.30am
And The Fursefield Centre, Potters Bar on Thursdays:
4-7 years: 6.00pm-7.00pm
8-13 years: 7.00pm-8.00pm
13-16 years: 8.00pm-9.00pm
There are various other meeting places around Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Middlesex, East Anglia and Central London, and throughout Europe.
