Clarence Park is situated close to the centre of St Albans, with good links to road, rail and buses. Surrounded by housing on three sides, it is also close to local shops and schools. There is a free car parking in the park, but the demand frequently outstrips the supply. However, this is a major open space that can easily be reached by foot, and many do just this by taking advantage of the easy pedestrian access into and through the park. Clarence Park today has matured since its opening, with an abundance of trees and shrubs, as well as formal bedding and rose beds.
The park is provided with two sets of public toilets, both having been upgraded to cater for disabled users. On the boundary of the park a privately owned Italian restaurant provides refreshments to park visitors, which can be enjoyed whilst sitting on specially sited picnic tables.
Clarence Park has attractive public seating around the site, and is well provided with litter and dog refuse bins.
Four sports, namely football, cricket, hockey and bowls enjoy their own pavilion facility, and these cater for some social activities. The bandstand provides free concerts during the summer, and the children's playground, which has equipment specifically for the disabled, is very popular.
Opening Hours:
Clarence Park is open all week during daylight hours but locked at night.
