Shenley United Jewish Community is a new Shul providing a religious and social centre to Shenley and nearby areas.

Over the last few years there has been a growing Jewish community in the Shenley area. As people have moved beyond the more established areas of Radlett and Borehamwood there has been a need to create a focus for traditional Jewish activity within Shenley.

With the assistance of the Community Development team from the United Synagogue this has now become a reality, and Shenley United Jewish Community (SUJC) is now a small but growing community with its own membership, services and secular activities.

Their members cover the whole age spectrum from young families through to retirement age. As a new and small community they operate on a very informal, friendly and inclusive basis.

Since an initial public meeting back in early 2001, Shenley United Jewish Community has gone from strength to strength. With strong backing from the Community Development Group of the United Synagogue, SUJC started by holding occasional Saturday services and then Yom Kippur and New Year. Today they have evolved to holding services every alternate Saturday throughout the year as well as providing services for all the festivals. This New Year had over 100 people attending services at a local school.

April 2003 marked a major watershed for the Community when they held their first formal elections and appointed a managing committee with a solid remit to grow and develop the community. Since that point they have established a membership of more than 50 families, as well as maintaining contact with over 150 families in the area.
