Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is an international and interdominational Christian missionary organisation, with the motto "To know God and make Him known".
YWAM's centre is Harpenden (north-west Hertfordshire) houses the national headquarters for YWAM England. YWAM Harpenden is also home to teams and projects working in local schools, with young people, with ethnic minorities and the needy in nearby towns, and in many nations across the world. There are around 150 full-time staff at YWAM Harpenden.
Each year YWAM Harpenden trains hundreds of young people, sending then out to bring hope and positive change wherever they go.
YWAM Harpenden is based on a 54 acre site in the conservation area of the town. The site used to be an orphanage (built in the early 1900's), and includes a Chapel. a number of large residential and office builings, sports fields and a wood.
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) England was established in 1970. The organisation partners with local churches to reach, disciple, and mobilise a new generation for world mission, in global, urban , youth and marketplace settings. With around 300 staff in over 20 locations in England, and supporting nearly 200 British missionaries overseas, YWAM England is the biggest mission sending agency in England.
YWAM International has around 16,000 full-time workers in over 800 operating locations in about 150 nations. YWAM trains about 19,000 people annually. YWAM is a volunteer organisation: every worker looks to God to provide for their needs.
