The St Vincent de Paul Society is a Catholic lay organisation founded to help the poor and needy (in mind, spirit, pocket or body).
The Society members visit to comfort the elderly, sick, disadvantaged, housebound and poor in their homes or in hospital, or any who have a need of support.
Wherever possible, they provide spiritual and practical help (including financial help). They attempt to support every situation to the best of their ability, with the aim that "no work of charity is foreign to our society".
They work in the centre of Welwyn Garden City and the surrounding area, and are based at St Bonaventures, 81 Parkway, Welwyn Garden City, Herts, AL8 6JF.
The Parent organisation is the National St Vincent de Paul Society, and affiliated organisations are The De Paul Trust (Housing for the Homeless) and Advent Trust (Help for the unemployed).
They meet at 7.15pm on Thursdays at St Bonaventures Parish Hall, 81 Parkway, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
Publications: The Vincentian (Published and distributed nationally).
