Summary Organisation also known as Quakers (Stansted).
Meets on Sundays at 10.30am at Quaker Meeting House, Chapel Hill, Stansted.
Quakers believe the whole of life is sacred and the experience of God is available to everyone. They believe God can be sought and found at all times and in all places. When they come to worship they are not led by a priest or minister.
The meeting for worship begins as soon as everyone sits down in silence. The worshippers wait quietly for the voice of God within. This quiet may last the hour or someone may stand, offer a prayer, read a passage that has been important to them, or speak about a recent experience.
Quakers represent a 350 year old tradition of radical spitituality which has always made space for individuals to come to their own truth within a community of like minds.
The Religious Society of Friends has always respected the role of women, sought the humane treatment of prisoners and the mentally ill, opposed slavery and cruelty to children, and campaigned to end war as a means of resolving differences between human beings.
