Norwich Puppet Theatre
The Company is based in one of only two dedicated puppet theatres in the whole of England. The theatre has a regular programme of its own and visiting company performances plus puppet making workshops for children. The Theatre also hosts a three term City and Guilds course in puppet making and acts as a regional centre for puppetry.
The Norwich Puppet Theatre company tours extensively throughout the Eastern region and beyond with performances in arts venues, schools, village halls etc. In addition the company has recently performed at festivals in Mexico, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Finland, Portugal and Spain. Since 2005 the Theatre has hosted a bi-annual International festival of Puppet Theatre bringing a range of high quality and innovative work to the region - much of it for the first time in the UK.
The theatre aims to develop a public taste for the art form of puppet theatre, rather then follow a fashion or present shows for commercial reasons. It looks to maintain a dialogue with and break down barriers between different art forms, particularly in relation to the combination of puppetry and live music.
