The Capital Arts Theatre School was founded in 1989 by its artistic director, Kathleen Shanks. The school has its own studio at the Wyllyotts Theatre in Potters Bar.
The theatre school runs workshops taken by professional performers and produces its own shows at the Wyllyotts Theatre. Students from the theatre school have performed in a number of professional productions, including the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare and have toured the USA, Australia and Japan with the RSC.
The theatre school also runs the internationally famous Capital Arts Children’s Choir. Choir rehearsals are held on Saturdays at the Wyllyotts Theatre. The Capital Arts Children’s Choir has a busy and impressive schedule of professional performances.
