The aim of this countywide scheme is to provide friendship and support for older people who feel lonely or isolated.
The Visiting Scheme offers a visit by a volunteer, in the privacy of the older person's home, usually for an hour or so, once a week. Care is taken to match the interests of of both volunteer and client as far as possible. As with all our schemes, references are taken from all potential volunteers.
The Telephone Club is where a weekly telephone call is made by one of a team of volunteers, to have social chat with an older person and to help with any concerns they may have. Often the same volunteer will ring each week.
Both schemes are free services, providing friendship to older people. For further information, contact your local co-ordinator (telephone numbers given above).
The Visiting Scheme for Dacorum is run by Age Concern Dacorum. Tel 01442 259049.
