Age Concern Hertfordshire. Asian Outreach, Day Centre and Carers Support Services

This service provides outreach workers who speak appropriate languages and who are knowledgeable about the cultural, social and religious needs of their respective communities.

The outreach workers and a carer support worker can give information on benefits and community care available to older Asian people. They also act as advocates, provide translation and interpreting where required and make referrals to other sources of support.

Social support is provided through regular group meetings as follows: Asian groups for both ladies and gentlemen are held in Hitchin and Letchworth twice a week. Weekly meetings are also held in Welwyn Garden City on a Thursday (please contact for further details).

The Carer Support worker supports older (55 plus) Asian carers in North Herts. Regular carers meetings are held and support is given on an individual basis as well. Complementary therapy services are arranged for carers.
