The Indian Cultural Society are a non-governmental, non-profit-making organisation.
They aim to:
* bring all families of Indian origin residents in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire together;
* encourage and promote the culture, to strengthen co-operation among institutions and individuals working in these fields and to publish information concerning their work;
* promote a better understanding of the culture and to represent the interests of Indian families to such government bodies, public authorities, professional bodies and other organisations as may be relevant;
* further the purposes of the society within the United Kingdom, to represent the views of UK members in all the society's work through its various constituent bodies, and to make known to those in the UK the activities and views of the society;
* support and facilitate the realisation of projects that are useful to Indian families, and to encourage and support the development of standards in all areas that concerns the society.
Events:
* Cultural evenings with dance and music;
* Events to promote values for Indian living in the UK;
* Social evenings to answer common questions on Indian culture;
* Providing showcase for young talent.
Membership:
There are no membership fees at present. However, the situation will be reviewed again in 3 months time. The membership will be open to people from all cultural background. However, it will stay mainly for people with Indian origin.
Publications:
Newsletter will be sent to each member as decided by the committee members. All events will be notified by mail or other means.
