The Lord Chancellor's Advisory Committee and its four sub-committees comprise active magistrates and non magistrate members who interview candidates and make recommendations to the Lord Chancellor concerning their appointment as Justices of the Peace (also known as magistrates) to the Hertfordshire Benches.
Applications as Justices of the Peace are welcomed from candidates with a wide range of occupations and backgrounds. It is important that applicants have an interest in and are actively involved in their local communities. They should be able to devote sufficient time to the work of the bench.
