The Pensions Ombudsman investigates and decides complaints and disputes concerning occupational and personal pension schemes. He is completely independent and acts as an impartial adjudicator. His appointment and powers operate under the Pension Schemes Act 1993 as amended by the Pensions Act 1995. Primarily, complaints investigated relate to alleged maladministration by the persons responsible for the management of pension schemes. Mis-selling of personal pensions is dealt with by the Financial Ombudsman Service.
There is no charge for bringing a complaint or dispute to the Pensions Ombudsman.
