The British Library Philatelic Collections contain over 8 million items including stamps and related postal items, as well as postal stationery and revenue stamps, etc.
There are 40 separate collections covering British mainland, colonial, commonwealth and world postage stamps, revenue stamps from the seventeenth century to the present day.
Approximately 80,000 items are on permanent display in the Library's exhibition area (open Monday-Saturday from 9.30am-6.00pm and Sundays from 11.00am-5.00pm).
Opening hours for items not on exhibition: Monday-Friday from 10.00am-4.00pm (by appointment only).
