The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom. It combines collections of books, journals, manuscripts, maps, printed music and sound recordings, covering all subject areas and in all known written languages.
Everyone is welcome to visit the Library, to visit their exhibition galleries or to tour the building. However, you need to apply for a Reader Pass to use their Reading Rooms.
They issue passes to those who need to use collections, whether or not you are affiliated to a research institution. They support researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs across all fields of study, and in academic, commerce or private research. If you are doing research, and the British Library's collection could help you, you are welcome to go and use the Library.
Please see separate entries for details of registration and access to the collections.
