This library holds London newspapers from 1801 onwards; English provincial, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Commonwealth and some foreign newspapers from about 1700 onwards. It also holds British weekly and fortnightly popular journals.

Photocopies, photographs and microfilm copies may be ordered. Self-service microfilm reader-printers are available. CD-ROMs of selected British national newspapers and other databases are available on open access.

British Library Newspapers' Catalogue is available via the Internet.

Admission is granted for research and reference not readily available in other public libraries. People under 18 are normally not permitted to use the library. Readers must provide proof of identity bearing their signature, plus proof of current address. Material is not available for loan.

Readers are strongly advised to contact the library in advance of a visit to check availability of material. Up to 4 volumes of microfilms may be reserved prior to visiting. Please email BookDelivery-colindale@bl.uk or telephone 020 7412 7353 at least 48 hours (excluding Sundays and bank holidays) before your visit.

Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday 10.00am-5.00pm, excluding public holidays and some additional days.

* Bus: 204, 303 - bus stop near Colindale Tube Station;
Bus: 32, 142, 292 - bus stop in Edgware Road, then 5-10 minute walk.

Accessibility: Disabled parking spaces can be reserved. Please telephone in advance so that any special arrangements for access can be made.

Facilities: Refreshments and toilet facilities on site. Small car-park.
