Child Tax Credit is a payment to support families with children. You can claim if you or your partner are responsible for at least one child or young person who lives with you. It is paid in addition to Child Benefit but the amount you get depends on your income.

Working Tax Credit is a payment to top up the earnings of low paid working people (employed or self-employed), including those who do not have children. Additional amounts are available for working people with a disability, severely disabled people and the costs of registered or approved child care.
